Christmas nights

Walking home from work, I took a time to walk in the old part. Just not to return home without doing something special. Just to take my time to breath the calm of these streets.
Lanetik etxerako bidean, alde zaharretik itzuli naiz. Zuzenean etxera ez joateko, zeozer berezia egin nahiean. Denbora hartzeko kaleen ixiltasuna ausnartzeko.

Lights, nearly desert street and a light rain. A strange feeling for a monday.
Argiak, ia jenderik gabeko kaleak eta euri fin bat. Egun arraroa astelehenekoa.
Luces, calles casi desiertas y una fina lluvia. Extraño día para un lunes inocente.

Mother´s gift is ready

I finally finished my mothers Christmas gift. It is a leather portafolio. With some space inside for bringing pencils, movile phone and books for her painting classes. I hope she like it.

Knitting bag and Isozaki Towers

Isozaki Towers. Bilbao

A new knitting bag. As I was encoraged so much I decided to keep my work in a good place. From Jezze in South Africa.

Snow

Sometimes a little walk in the forest, were life is more than live, reminds the importance of things. Just walk and listen. See. Smell. All those little moments imposible to catch in a photo. Running down, playing with Ortxi. Just a little clear moment in a messy time.
Batzutan menditik buelta bat emateak, benetan zerk duen garrantzia gogorarazten dizu. Ibili eta entzun. Ikusi eta usaindu. Argazki batean arrapa ez daitezkeen momentu horiek. Maldan behera elurrean korrika egin Ortxirekin jolasean. Argi momentu bat, denboraldi zoroan.

Imprisioned leaves

In my way to the office. Water falling, freezing leaves...and a bit of sun, just to leave them show their colours.
Lanerako bidean. Ur jauziak, osto izoztuak...eta eguzki apur bat, justo euren koloreak agertarazteko.

Corner view: books

Books are quite everywhere at home. These are the "german" ones. Thomas Mann, Herman Hesse, Stefan Zweig, Rainer Maria Rilke (my favorite), etc.

The "rusians". Dostoiesky, Tolstoi, Gorki, Turgeniev.....

The "italians". Alessandro Baricco (lovely way of telling stories), Italo Calvino and his invisibles cities to get lost in...Cesare Pavese...some portuguese, some of Pessoa and Jose Saramago...
As you can see I have quite clasic taste on books. Lately I am reading less...arrive at bed quite tired, and I am reading more "light" books...I am one of those who buys books. I like it. And I try to read or find books that are mentioned in other books, or that someone has told about, or that has some conections...for example I discovered Haruki Murakami´s Norwegian wood in a trip to Italy. A friend told us in a dinner that her girlfriend has said to him, that before going out together he must read that book...so I took note, it must be something interesting. I read also diary books, or correspondence books just to know better the writers I like, to understand better. Books are part of me.
Liburu nahiko klasikoak irakurtzen dituz. Liburuak erostea gustoko dut. Orduak liburu denda batean sartuta igaro, etxean eta kanpoan nagoenean. Beti ekartzen ditut liburuak bidaietatik. Liburuak erreferentziak jarraituz erosten ditut, liburu hau norbaitek izendatzen badu, edo norbaiten elkarrizketan agertzen den edo beste liburu batean ateratzen denean...eta egunerokoak eta eskutitz liburuak ere gustoko ditut, idazleak hobe ezagutu eta ulertzeko. Liburuak nire parte bat dira.

Red balloon.

On Saturday morning we went out to take some photos. There is a photo competition and a friend asked me for some help. I was the "assistant"of this little princess. While her father took photos, I must take care of the doll, change caps, try the balloon to be ok, feed the little princess....and take some photos on my own.
Larunbat goizean argazki batzuk ateratzera joan ginen. Argazki txapelketa dau eta lagun batek laguntza eskatu zidan. Prinzesaren laguntzailea nintzen. Aitak argazkiak ateratzen zizkion bitartean, nik panpina zaindu behar nuen, kapelak aldatu, puzika ondo egon zedin zaiatu, prinzesatxoari jaten eman...eta argazki batzuk atera.

I had a brilliant morning. Thanks to both.

Corner view: evenings

City evenings are becoming blue. The old part is being filled with blue little lights. I cannot say if I like them or not. I think I am a bit blue to say something.
Hiriko gauak urdinak bilakatzen dira. Alde zaharra argi urdinez betetzen hasi da. Ezin dezaket esan gustoko dudan hala ez. Blue xamar nagoela uste diat.

Home evenings are becoming warm. My grandma (she is 90) has send me these lovely shocks. Handmade socks, just to encorage me to continue knitting.

Leather and photo coin purse

I want something special for a friend. Her family is from Zarautz and loves the view of the Getaria Mouse from the beach.
Lagun batentzat zeozer berezia nahi nuen. Bere Zarauzkoa da eta maite du ondartzatik ikusten den Getariko arratoiaren irudia .

So I did a little purse with the photo.
Beraz karteratxoa egin nuen argazkiarekin.

Corner view: corners of your home

I was late last night. I had no new photos of home....so one of the messy bedside table. With glasses, earrings, rings, bottons, limpbalsam....and a bit of colour.
Atzo gabean berandu nenbilen. Ez nituen etxeko argazki berririk...beraz ohe ondoko mahaitxoa jarriko dut. Betaurrekoekin, eraztunekin, belarritakoekin, botoiak...eta kolore apur bat.
Anoche anduve tarde.

Another one of the bookcase. These horses and the tree are made with plastic and are made in Africa. I bought them in a market some time ago. So I made a little space for them to play.

Snowing. It is snowing!!!

I studied in Bilbao. I used to go by bus everyday to University. This crane is one of the things I remember from the old Bilbao. It has changed a lot in the last 15 years. Everytime I pass near it, it reminds me arriving in Bilbao, the first day of class, afraid of the new place, without knowing exactly what I was going to study and which my future will be. Now, years after, sometimes I find myshelf with the same feelings, looking at that crane with the same eyes.
Bilbon ikasi nuen. Autobusean joaten nintzen egunero Unibertsitatera. Garabi hau betidanik dago hor eta Bilbo zaharra burura ekarten dit. Asko aldatu da azken 15 urtetan. Handik pasatzen naizen bakoitzean unibertsitateko lehen eguna etorten jat burura. Leku berria, ia zer ikasi behar nuen jakin gabe, zer etorriko zenaren beldur. Eta urteak pasa izanda ere, batzutan nere burua berdin sentitzen diat, garabiari aintzinako begi berdinekin begira.

On Saturday the sea was brave. Today it is snowing. For the first time. All the white that breaks is falling. It is grey, dark and snowing.
Larunbatean itsasoa zakar zegoen. Gaur elurra dau jausten. Lehenengo aldiz. Apurtutako zuri guztia erortzen ari da. Gris, ilun eta elurretan.
El sábado el mar estaba furioso. Hoy está nevando. Por primera vez. Todo el blanco roto, cae. Está gris, oscuro y nieva.

Christmas gifts

Some years ago I travelled to Poland. I bought some amber stones in Gdánsk. There is one stone left, and we are thinking to ask to made a brooch. My mum wants something special so asked me to design it. I started drawing last night...nothing interesting...Any ideas?
Orain urte batzuk Poloniatik ibili ginen uda baten. Gdánsk-en ambar harri batzuk erosi nituen. Oraindik bat geratzen da eta brotze bat egin diezaguten pentsatu degu. Amak zeozer berezia nahi du, eta diseinatzeko eskatu dit. Atzo gauean marrazten hasi nintzen...baina ezer ez...ideiarik?

And I continue hand sewing a gift for my mum. Jumping from work to work...hoping to be in time.
Eta eskuz josten jarraitzen diat amaren oparia. Lan batetik bestera saltoka...denboran amaitzearen esperantzarekin.

City sunday morning

I love to walk round the city on Sunday mornings. They have something special. The city is quite silence and few people wander round. It is like having all the city for you.
Igande goizeetan hiritik galtzea gustoko diat. Zeozer berezia du. Hiria erdi ixilik dago eta jende gutxi topa dezakezu bidean.

But this sunday has been special. I went to Estibaliz. It is a romanic church just 15 km far from Vitoria. Two friends of mine got married there, but the most beautiful image of it is that I used to come here to draw. Sitting in a camping chair, with classmates trying to discover all the secrets of the arches.
Igandea berezia izan da. Estibalizea joan ginen. Txikitan honera etorten ginen marraztera, kanping aulki batean, portadaren arkuek duten misterioa deskubritu nahiean.
El domingo fue diferente. Fuimos a Estibaliz.

Love the details of each arch. The little representations in the columns. They are part of my childhood. So I always try to look at it with those eyes. I think my mum keeps the drawings at home.
Maite ditut arko bakoitzeko detaileak. Kolumnetako errepresentazioak. Nire haurtzaroko parte dira. Eta beti begi haregaz begiratzea gustetan jat. Amak marrazkiak gordetzen dituela uste dut.
